A Criminal History obtained from the Omaha Police Department will only reveal criminal convictions for Douglas County, Nebraska. Citizens will be required to pay a fee (currently $7). This fee is required and there are no waivers or exceptions to this requirement.

There are times that a business, state/local agency or non-profit agency must request a number of criminal history requests. You may contact the Records Manager at (402) 444-5828 to make arrangements so that you are not requesting each record individually.

Currently, there are two methods by which a Criminal History may be obtained from the Omaha Police Department:

By U.S. Mail:

  • Send the full name of the subject person, including any other names the person may go by.

  • Provide the subject's date of birth and Social Security Number if it is available.

  • Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope and a check for $7.00 made payable to the City of Omaha.

       Send to:

       The Records Manager
       Omaha Police Department
       505 South 15th Street
       Omaha, NE 68102

You should receive the requested information within seven business days.

In-Person: A Criminal History can be obtained at the Front Desk of Central Police Headquarters, located at 15th and Howard Streets (505 S. 15th Street). Again, you must provide the name of the subject, date of birth, and Social Security Number if it is available.

Note: Your request may or may not be processed as you wait, depending upon the existing workload at the time you approach the Front Desk. If you cannot wait, you may leave a self-addressed stamped envelope or an email address to where the information can be sent to.

State Wide Criminal History Check

State-wide Criminal Histories are available through the Nebraska State Patrol. However, there are certain Criminal History entries that may have originated in Douglas County and other counties that may or may not be listed on the State Patrol record.

You may consider requesting a Criminal History from the Nebraska State Patrol in the event any additional information may be available there.

Visit their website or send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Nebraska State Patrol Records
State Patrol Headquarters
1600 Highway 2
Lincoln, NE 68509

Include:

  • the full name, along with any alias(s)

  • date of birth

  • Social Security Number if available

A check for $15.00 made payable to the Nebraska State Patrol must be included.
