Snag Those Bags! Plastic Bag and Film Recycling

Through a grant from the 2019 Scott County Recycling Infrastructure and Outreach Grants Program, the Recycling Association of Minnesota is working on a project to educate and encourage residents to properly recycle their plastic shopping bags and plastic film. RAM is delighted to have assembled a strong partnership with Dem-Con Companies as well as the American Chemistry Council who have provided the cash and in-kind matching funds. Together, we hope to increase recovery rates and reduce contamination of plastic film materials. Where To Recycle Plastic Bags and Film

Below is a list of locations in Scott County that collect plastic shopping bags and films for recycling. These same stores in other cities are also collection points. You’ll find most collection receptacles in or near the entry way.

Which Plastic Films are Recyclable?

Please recycle only clean, dry plastic bags and film. Remove receipts or any other items from bags.

Examples include:

  • Retail, carryout, produce, newspaper, bread, and dry cleaning bags (clean, dry and free of receipts and clothes hangers)
  • Zip-top food storage bags (clean and dry)
  • Plastic shipping envelopes (remove labels), bubble wrap and air pillows (deflate)
  • Product wrap on cases of water/soda bottles, paper towels, napkins, disposable cups, bathroom tissue, diapers, and female sanitary products
  • Furniture and electronic wrap
  • Plastic cereal box liners (but if it tears like paper, do not include)

These items should only be recycled at participating collection locations, never in your curbside bin
