In a disaster, 40% of businesses NEVER reopen.
The SBA and Homeland Security have recommendations for businesses. The IEDC (International Economic Development Council) has recommendations for communities. Both are combined in one solution.
There are three service levels:
- Business Only: A web service with optional mobile sync to help businesses create a disaster plan, enter email addresses to create a contacts list, and provide training information to their employees. Includes automatic 6-month update system.
- Complete Community: Provides the business app to all businesses in a community plus has five community tools (Code Red notification, Registry for special needs/resources, Prioritized Re-entry registration, Triage, and We're Back marketing program).
- Community with Business opt-in: Provides most of the community tools with the business app available for any business that opts in.
The Business Only version is a revenue share program that can be implemented by any organization or government entity.
The other options require cooperation between the chamber of commerce and their city or county.
